Deck & Fence Restoration

Bring weathered wood back to life — ready for stain or sealant the same week.

Wood decks and fences in the Gulf Coast climate take a beating. Salt air, UV, summer rain, and shade from live oaks all combine to gray out wood and grow mildew. After 2–3 years, most decks look 10 years older than they are.

Baldwin Preaux Wash uses a two-step deck restoration process: first a wood-safe cleaner kills mildew and lifts dirt, then a brightener neutralizes the cleaner and restores the wood's natural color. The result looks brand new and is ready for stain or sealant within 48 hours.

Wood We Restore

Two-Step Restoration Process

Step 1: Clean. A wood-safe cleaning solution penetrates the surface, killing mildew and lifting embedded dirt and gray weathered wood fibers. We let it dwell 10–15 minutes, then rinse at very low pressure to avoid raising the grain.

Step 2: Brighten. A wood brightener (mild oxalic acid) neutralizes the cleaner, closes the wood pores, and restores the rich natural color. Without this step, the cleaner can leave wood looking dull and washed-out.

Stain & Seal Prep

If you're planning to stain or seal your deck, Baldwin Preaux Wash's restoration process is the ideal prep. Most stain manufacturers (Penofin, Ready Seal, Sikkens) require a clean, brightened surface for warranty coverage.

We let the wood dry 24–48 hours before staining. Don't have a stain crew? Ask us — we partner with several Foley AL wood-finishing specialists.
